A practical sequence

01

Identify the seller

Check the business name shown at checkout, not only the website brand. Record the seller’s location, contact route, tax treatment and who will appear on the invoice. SoundAustral does not currently provide a retail checkout or represent that products are held as Australian stock.

02

Confirm landed cost and delivery

Ask whether the displayed amount is in A$/AUD and whether GST, shipping or import charges are included. Confirm the dispatch country, carrier coverage and what happens if the parcel is damaged. New Zealand and other Oceania markets are not automatically included.

03

Read return terms in two layers

For a simple change of mind, the seller’s published policy matters. For a product that fails to meet a consumer guarantee, ACCC guidance explains that the available remedy depends on the problem and whether it is major or minor. A business cannot use a blanket ‘no refunds’ policy to remove consumer-guarantee rights.

04

Check support beyond a date

Ask who receives fault reports, where a return goes and who pays freight in the relevant circumstances. A manufacturer’s voluntary warranty can add a process or period, but expiry of that warranty does not automatically mean all consumer-guarantee rights have ended.

Next step

Make the next decision with facts.

Save the product page, checkout total, seller details and return terms before payment. If a fault occurs, describe the problem and requested outcome in writing and keep receipts and correspondence.
