Separate music from meetings
Many hi-fi headphones do not include a microphone. Keep the computer’s built-in mic, a USB microphone or a separate headset available for calls. Check how your operating system switches input and output devices before adding hardware.
Try the headphone first
Confirm fit, clamp, ear-pad heat, cable reach and whether the closed or open design suits the room. The FiiO FT1 is an official-specification example of a 32Ω closed-back model, but SoundAustral has not published local listening-test results for it.
Add a desktop unit for a defined reason
A device such as the FiiO K11 R2R can accept USB, optical or coaxial input and drive 6.35 mm or 4.4 mm headphone connections. That does not make it necessary for every headphone. Check the exact connection, safe gain setting and available desk space first.
Optimise the desk
Keep the volume control reachable, route cables away from chair wheels and leave ventilation space around powered equipment. Start on low gain and low volume. A compact system that is easy to turn off and troubleshoot tends to last longer.
